Try using a hair straightener. You can find one anywhere nowadays, and reasonably priced too. Some do less damage to your hair than others.

That's how my hair is and I have the Rachel cut (see link). When I want it strait I use a flat iron. As for a flat iron get a tourmeline ceramic or titanium one. They're easier on your hair.

As for the cut that depends on the thickness of your hair. Mine is how you describe and very thick. My stylist cuts it with long layers (don't know the name of the cut). My bangs are long and tapered around the face. Sometimes I wash it then mouse it and kink it up letting it dry that way. But mostly I use a straightening iron. My tip is I straighten it at night, then in the morning I just have touch it up and spray....sometimes I don't even have to touch it up. Oh yeah, I use this stuff from Garnier - Surf hair or some other one that comes in a little green ball with a yellow lid or green lid, can't remember and sorry I am out or I would go look at bottle) lately I have just been pony tailing it.

Good luck!

My hair is naturally straight but when i wake up it get bumpy in random places. I just use my straightener and it makes it straight. You can find one a your local drug store. Now about your length: go to a stylist that also has curly hair, so she knows how you feel. I suggest getting it thinned and keeping it long. : )

I have slightly wavy very thick hair and prefer it to be completely straight. The only thing I have found that works is using a flat iron and Dove Anti-Frizz serum. This will last all night for me.
