also, if you're into the "scene" look, its verry easy to style your hair big, poofy and scene with that haircut. you just need som hairspray and a comb.

but if you just want the choppy look, sometimes the haircut alone isnt enough to get it to look piecey and choppy. so get some styling wax, put a tiny bit on your finger tips, grab some end tips of your hair and kind of do a twisting motion with your pointer finger and your thumb.or just go crazy with hairspray and then brush it all down. it makes it kind of piecey.

I got my hair cut short in a bob 6ish weeks ago, its just sits under my chin. I had layers before when my hair was medium length, but all the layers were cut out when it became short.

My first question is how much money and how much time do you have to spend on your hair?!?!? I you do not have a lot of time/money then I would suggest some peek a boo hilites.. they are hilites that are put under your natural part line.. any good hairdresser should know what the word means.... the up keep on this is minimal. yes you will have outgroth but no one will see tit!!!! if you do not mind spending money/time on your hair then consider a full head of "natural" highlites.. very fine sections of a HUE that is only 2-3 shades lighter than your natural color!! You should put a combination of caramel and blond highlights in your hair. These are great summer colors and should blend right in with your layers. I have also seen where the layers underneath are being left dark and the top layers (from the crown) are being dyed lighter, and/or highlighted.

In the summer it's always nice to go ligher. Try a light brown with platnum highlights or ash highlights. Sounds like you have a great hair cut. Change the color and you will be glowing. I would go light brown with super blonde highlights. Hope this helps. xoxo

Okay, you sound similiar to mine. I have been doing an auburn gloss (different from a permanent color, it is actually a deep conditioner that also deposits color...cannot lighten though). It creates a beautiful color, especially in the sun, but still natural. I have also added some honey/caramel colored highlights around the front and few strategic places to create a natural sun-kissed look. I hate fake looking hair, so if this is done right it will not look that way. The gloss will also make your hair very soft and shiny. I love glosses, I won't even use regular hair color. My mom is a cosmetologist, so she teaches me alot.

It depends on your coloring. If you want something dramatic - do a 'double process' (this might be a bit harsh on your hair though) and do your hair a medium brown and then put light brown highlights in it.

Other than that - I agree with another user who said to put caramel highlights. It is pretty flattering - and is always a fallback on when you want to grow your hair out....

PS - don't get any bleach highlights! Ask for colored highlights and then have them put a gloss afterwards (or cellophane) so your hair is nice and shiny.

Also - check out that John Frieda Luminous Color glaze, keeps your hair really shiny and adding a bit of color each time.

Dark hair always looks great with streaks a blonde and a dark blonde with brown hair. Or even a cooper. If you go to a hair dresser and explain you need a change and you can deal with letting them do what they want you'll maybe be happier. The first thing that can to my mind was highlights. But you could also try coloring your hair burgundy. Since your hair is already dark the burgundy wouldn't your dominate hair color. But it will show real good in the light and especially when you are out in the sun. This is the way I have my hair and I always get a lot of compliments about it.

don't do blonde unless you dye you eyebrows blonde too. brown eyebrows and blonde hair will make you look dumb. also, unless you bleach your hair, it is hard to dye brown hair blonde. i say get lighter brown and darker blode highlights... that'd look pretty cool.

What color are your eyes? If you eyes are dark brown to medium brown then I would advise no lighter than Carmel high-lites(unless dramatic is the look you are going for)or rich reds or red browns. If your eyes are light brown you can choose red, carmel or light blonde-same goes for green eyes. If your eyes are blue you need to look at the underlying"flecks"of color. Blue with brown?Carmel or darker. Blue with green? Your choice. Blue with purple or white? You can go very light. Ever since I ahve been a red-head/auburn. I've tried all different shades. You could start with a store bought color kit.Maybe a dark auburn to start %26amp; see how you like it. But be careful and use precautions if you have already color treated hair and/or a perm.

You could always BUY a goatee - something you could take off everynight ! Lol. Kidding....that would be a little ridiculous. Keeping a short goatee is high maintenence. A long goatee you could let go with no or little maintenence, but you'd have to deal with the discomfort for a while. Chances are you will get used to it as everyone does. Soon it will be no big deal.

you could buy a hair relaxer and use it on your hair. These are going to make your hair more managable and less course, but you will still have curls. your hair will be more managable and soft. Hair relaxers are for a hair type not a skin color, remember that. I have used them on my hair for years. another thing that you should use is the "Motions at Home" shampoo and conditioner. (its found in the ethnic hair care isle) again, anyone can use it. it really makes your hair soft and more managable. I have hair like your first picture. Remember... a relaxer is not going to take all the curls from your hair and make it straight, it is going to make your hair much easier to work with.

As for the cut that depends on the thickness of your hair. Mine is how you describe and very thick. My stylist cuts it with long layers (don't know the name of the cut). My tip is I straighten it at night, then in the morning I just have touch it up and spray....sometimes I don't even have to touch it up. Okay, it's not that tricky. Anyone's advice is welcomed and don't read this question as an "OMG WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!" I just thought I'd get a couple of suggestions.

22 year old male. Receding hairline, but I think it's full on top. (Think Jude Law, Heath Ledger) I'm also getting random grey hairs on the sides (maybe back of head also? I have medium to dark brown hair) Currently I've been cutting my hair very short. 3/8'' top, 1/4'' sides and back. My hair gets fairly curly when it gets longer, but it's kind of thinning on the front so it looks stupid. It looks fuller when kept short.

Any advice? I like it short, and think I might try it even shorter than I have it now, like to the point where you see the coloring of the hair but don't really see the hair itself. I really don't think there is anything else to try, so I don't really know what anyone could advise, lol.

Otherwise, maybe you can grow the front a bit longer, so that it covers the parts where your hair is sparse.

Also maybe try some subtle chops along with the super short haircut youre talking about. Thick chops are gross, but a little added scruffy some chicks dig that.

I have curly hair too and I know that fear... try a short trim first... see how bouncy your hair can be... then go for the shorter style if you still want it... I find I keep forgetting how much my hair curls up after a cut!

okay, I am a hairdresser and this is what you need to do:Get into your wallet and buy a good shampoo and conditioner,quit buying pantene,white rain, or any of that other stuff.Paul Mitchell is one of the best products out there,so go to your salon and buy the strengthening shmp. and cond. it's white and pink.

When you get a shower, wash your hair first, and leave the conditioner on until you are done with whatever else you do in there and rinse it out. DON'T BRUSH WET HAIR your hair is most elastic when it is wet (which means that it stretches) brushing it will make it worse and it will snap more.

If you get color or hilights, then stop for a while give it a break, air dry it if you can, easy on the heating tools and rubber bands(ponytails will also cause tons of breakage) Another product to get is Paul Mitchell Gloss Drops it smooths down your hair and moisturizes it also, and I gaurantee if you buy it you will for the rest of your life. If your layers are mostly grown out, than I would shoot for a blunt cut right below your chin, and then when you get it cut, maybe you'll want to take care of it more, atleast it will be healthier. And remember always to get your

trims every 6 to 8 weeks, because it won't get longer, it will just break off more and you'll be in the same boat.

Okay, so here's the deal. I already grew my hair out to a considerable length, and then I went to the hairstylist. I didn't exactly do much research, and they just ended up cutting and straightening my hair.

Bad thing is that they cut my bangs short, while everything else is long. (Think awkward phrase)

So I really would like to:

a) grow my hair out faster and

b) figure out what to do in the mean time.

Now I know most of you will say, there's not secret or anything, but as far as I'm concerned, anything involving eating more proteins and drinking more water is going to benefit anyway.

And as for B, well, simple fact, I can't really do anything with my bangs. They reach almost an inch in front. It's really embarrassing, because this gives the impression that I have medium-length hair. Contrasted by the fact that my hair covers my ears, and reaches halfway down my neck.

What do I do?

well i hate to tell you this but your hair won't grow any faster than it does naturally which is about 1/2 an inch every month.

yes drinking water and taking vitamins will help your hair be healthy, but it WON'T help your hair grow faster.

Use gel in your hair and go for the "messy" look.

you could always cut the rest of your hair to make it more uniform so it looks better.

Someone told you layers are the answer to everything. He is wrong. Everytime I get a hair cut they want to layer it. They say it makes it thicker and it doesn't. It is hard to grow out when you want a change and layers are a pain in the butt.

And if you cut it to your chin your face will look wider. You should cut your hair at the mid of your neck or shoulder length. Shoulderlength would look best.

since you have a round face, you shouldnt get it cut too short . . that will only make it rounder.

Where should I get my hair cut?

I hate going to like supercuts or something because they end up chopping off the good 5 inches that took me a year to grow! So I asked my mom to trim it, and she cut off a good fistful too. Anyway, now I have this medium length straight-cut hair, no bangs or anything. It seems like a weird length- not long, not short. about 2-3 inches past my shoulder.

my question: Since my hair looks really plain now, I want to get a few slight layers put in, but I want to KEEP THE LENGTH. Like just enough to frame my face and give it some style, but I want them to leave my current hair length as the longest layer. where do you think i should go? I went to Regis before, and I loved the cut, but it set me back $50. Do you think Supercuts can handle it or should I go to sears or jcpenny or something? How is the service /price at sears/jcp?

I am with Baby here. Go to a nice hair salon. If you hair looks bad, no matter how pretty your face is nor, how nice your cloths are, it's just awful. Of course that's my personal opinion but, so you know I had cried over bad hair cuts. Whatever you go, make sure that you emphasize to the her dresser what you want, make sure she/he listens and understands BEFORE they even touch your hair. I think that you should get highlights instead of cutting it and there are some products at CVC that allow you to do it at home, I haven't use any of these products myself but my daughter does and I think they work pretty good. You might want to try getting an appointment at a beauty college, where the students are learning how to cut hair. They do a really nice job, plus it costs a lot less than a salon. We have a technical college here that does this, and I also have a friend who goes there regularly and really likes the cuts. They do perms and everything, without the high cost of a salon. I cut my own hair, 'cause I've gotten too many bad cuts from well-meaning friends. I agree...some people don't know how to stop cutting! It seems like I've searched all over the net to find the right medium punk-ish hairstyle but the only thing I ever pull up seems to be 1980's stuff I do want a punkish do but something more up to date. ok i have medium brown hair not RLY RLY dark but medium light-ish. my hair is also thin and long(down to my chest) with angles. i straighten it everyday becuz it does NOT hold curl! so keep that in mind.

Being a Cosmetologist I suggest either one it depends on your own personal preference. Going with your face type you should keep the length of your hair maybe adding some layers. But in the bang area they all is good ideas and would look great

well before i had my hair cut, i would aways keep it down and straight, then i got it layered but you couldn't tell the difference, so now i have it to right below my shoulders with choppy, short layers and side bangs! i really like it...if you have a 'regis salon' in your local mall or any mall you go to then go there and ask for this:

short choppy layers with the total length right below my shoulders and side bangs (if you don't already have any of those)

i haven't tried curling it since i got it cut but it stays pretty straight and goes up into a half ponytail really well! i love it!

I'm currently growing out my hair; I want it semi-shaggy length. Not like a girl's haircut, but like the length of Tom Welling's, for example. I had it shaggy in 2003, but forget how long it took.

I got a "fade" hair cut with my sides shaved and top cut short back in November (end of), and now it's like medium length (two months later)...long enough to spike it all crazy ie not short spiikes, but long ones.

Maybe give it another two months for it to start to get shaggy? I miss my long hair!

Red always looks good on black hair. Blue does too, but black is already has a blue undertone and the red would be a nice contrast. Blonde can look goofy, and even more goofy when it grows out, you'd have to touch it up a lot. You will notice roots very soon, and you would have to keep up with it. If you want to be original, you can put a few chunky red streaks on the top sections of your hair so it's easier for you and the stylist to touch up, and it will be cheaper. the best thing to do it experiment and see what you like best!

Well thats an easy fix i think it would look great on you wavy hair is cute. So when you get your bangs cut each morning wet them and Blow dry them with a flat soft brisal brush and crul inward as you dry so they become straight and curv with your forhead!

I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow, and hopefully REDONE. My hair is, at the moment, a little bit below my shoulders. The reason I want it shorter...my current hair is horrid with most lengths. It's medium brown, not exactly curly, but too poofy to be called wavy. I straighten it sometimes, but its so thick that usually only a short cut alows me to easily do this. I want it unpoofed, and styled in a way that will be cute even if I dont straighten it. I mean, could bangs even work in any way? I need serious help...that doesnt involve chemicals or other things harmful to hair. Like I said, I need some serious suggestions; I am so tired of having hideous hair, that yet has so much untapped potential...I HATE it.

Also, no matter what I use, the frizz will not go away. What product could I use?

Any other suggestions would be helpful!

Hey! I know exacally how you feel! Try John Frieda Products...Get Shampoo and Conditioner to straighten hair, Color Glaze (It makes hair shiny), a smoothing product, and some hairspray. Get color glaze in your shade. It just adds a dose of shiny color. Remember not to use too much!

When you get your hair cute tomorrow..ask for thinning. It is just a cut process. While she is cutting your hair, ask for recommendations of hair products to control your wavy hair. If she has any good recommendations, get it! Also, if she is going to straighten your hair, watch what she puts in it, and watch her blowdry you hair, etc. so you can pick up a few things.

What hair straightener do you use? Invest in a good one. The CHI flat iron is excellent. It keeps your hair frizz-free and straight for days. If spending that much isn't your style, find a CHI on Ebay.com or pick up a SEDU flat iron. I heard it wasn't bad.

You don't have to straighten it everyday. You could pick up some curl-enhancer shapoo, conditioner and products. Then you'd just blowdry your hair with your head upside down, and insert rollers (They are super cheap...even dollar-store ones are acceptable! Buy alot!) Or you could curl it.

When you are taking a shower, after you have shampoo and conditioned you hair, spritz cold water on your hair, as the cold minerals deflate the frizz!

my friend has thick, curly/wavy/unknow hair and i straightened it for her once and she realized her hair looked really good and was long but anyway make sure u dont wash ur hair with 2 much shampoo(about a quater size is ENOUGH) it could make ur hair greasy

hair spray may help the frizz, if u spray hair spray on ur brush and brush ur hair that may help other wise spray directly

but as for ur hair cut ty short again and maybe get some bangs (side bangs)
